We had a great February meeting, packing the room at the Uptown Grill with even more attendees than our January meeting! Our guest speaker, Thayrone X, did an awesome job of delivering his wake up call for conservatives in a way that only Thayrone could. Listen to On The Edge with Thayrone at WAAM 1600, 3-6pm weekdays.
Bill Bigler gave a pitch about the importance of becoming a Precinct Delegate. We had attendees signing up in droves. Great job Bill! Thanks for all that you do to ensure the conservative voice remains a part of the Republican Party.
Vicki Kahle updated our group on the importance of volunteerism and outlined 3 specific goals the Lakes Area Tea Party will be focusing on this year.
- Precinct Delegate Recruitment
- Part Time Legislators petition Drive
- Conservative Candidate Support
Lakes Area Tea Party will now be including a second monthly meeting for our volunteer effort. The first one will be on March 1st from 10am to 12noon. It will be held at the Commerce Township Community Library (map). More details on this meeting will be coming soon.
Our $25 gift card winner to the Uptown Grill was Bo Wilinski. Bo won by bringing the most new guests to a LATP meeting.
We had a few announcements that followed:
Matt Maddock, father and business owner from Milford, announced that he will be starting an exploratory committee to run for the 15th Michigan State Senate District currently held by Senator Mike Kowall.
There will be a fundraiser for Tom McMillin on March 5th. It is a low-dollar event, just $25. David Barton will headline the event for Tom. Go to www.McMillin.eventbrite.com for ticket information.
Our next monthly meeting at Uptown Grill will be held March 10th. Our headline speaker for March will be Washington Times columnist and author Steve Gorham. Steve is the executive Director of the Climate Science Coalition and is a frequent radio guest of the Frank Beckman show. Don’t miss it!
